It was just a perfect place to stay. Very comfortable and homely. And the staff provided the most thoughtful service.
Excellent facilities, great location, a quiet and peaceful neighborhood: all add up to make our stay enjoyable.
Beautiful surroundings. Very clean and comfortable. Helpful staff who created a happy and relaxed atmosphere. Situated close to varied good 'eating 'opportunities and interesting attractions, such as the Albatross Centre-which we enjoyed very much. Happy memories.
Christine and her staff we so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them, they went the extra mile to make our stay memorable.
An absolutely fantastic stay. We felt welcomed and were given great advice on what to see and where to eat on the Peninsula. I will be recommending this motel to my friends in Australia who are intending to travel to NZ.
I would like to vote for the Portobello Motel. During our stay they went that little extra e.g Put heaters on so warm when we came back at night (winter). Put electric blankets on as well so beds aired and warm when we came back at night. When we left, I left a book behind. One email and they found my book and returned it by post to me in Napier which I appreciated.

Our family of 5 had a 2-bedroom suite for 2 nights in March 2010, and enjoyed a lot our stay at the Portobello Motel. Clean, bright, practical and well furnished, it's also conveniently located and provides very friendly and helpful service. Highly recommended!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Portobello Motel. We had such a lovely view..wished we could have stayed longer. We cast our vote for the Portobello Motel.
I stayed at the motel last year and it was one of the best I stayed throughout my NZ trip. The place is cozy and well equipped.

Loved the hotel, people, they even got us in a night early when I forgot to call and change the reservation.
Wonderful motel. We have stayed there many times over the last 3 years and have recommended it to friends and family. Our first stay this year with our son was great and we will be returning later this month for another two week stay.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. The lodging was spacious and very clean and the manager was very helpful and friendly.
